2022/23 Panini Prizm Basketball Review (2024)

The hobby staple for basketball is finally here, 2022-23 Panini Prizm Basketball has hit the shelves at Sports Card Market. The product is now available for purchase online and in store.

In every hobby box you’ll find on average:

  • 2 Autographs
  • 22 Prizm Parallels
  • 10 Inserts

Prizm basketball is the hobby. Whenever you think of recent years Prizm has led the way in the Sports Card World. The design and colored prizms are iconic as collectors look for the gold prizm /10 and the gold vinyl 1/1 and the black finite 1/1.

I’ve always been a big fan of Prizm because you have the ability to pull cards that could catch a very high dollar amount. For example, Jalen Green’s 1/1 in a PSA 9 sold for over $60,000 last year. So while not all boxes are going to be profitable you have the chance to hit a very big card.

Overall, I’m definitely a fan of this year's product. Similar to the 2022 Prizm Football design, Panini added a bit more border to each card and decreased the image size. But I like the improvement and I think it will be a hit for the rest of the year.

We opened 1 box and did decently well and I’m sure we’ll open more in the coming weeks. Below are all of our hits from our box including a pair of rookie autos and a gold prizm!

Starting off with some of our base rookie cards. You’re not guaranteed any rookies, but it felt like there were 1-3 in each pack.

Next up we have our inserts highlighted by my favorite prizm insert Prizmatic. The design makes it look like a case hit or an SSP however it’s only an insert.

These cards are all of our non-numbered parallels that we hit. Lots of decent stuff here, the best card in this bunch is probably the Chet hyper prizm.

Here are the numbered prizms that we hit in our box highlighted by the Gold Jrue Holiday /10 and the Jaden Ivey red /299!

2022/23 Panini Prizm Basketball Review (4)

Finally, we have our 2 autos that we hit. Jalen Williams is a nice rookie autograph hit! But the Patrick Baldwin is a bit underwhelming as it’s a base autograph redemption of a mid tier rookie.

2022/23 Panini Prizm Basketball Review (5)

While our box wasn’t the best box in the world, I’d say we’ll be able to turn a profit with some of the cards that we pulled. If you’re interested in purchasing a box for yourself you can do so here (2022/23 Panini Prizm Basketball Hobby).
