Best Seats For a Concert at NRG Stadium

The most common seating layout at NRG Stadium for concerts is an end-stage setup with the stage located near sections Section 111, Section 112 and Section 113. For many concerts there are also slight variations to the layout, which may include General Admission seats, fan pits and B-stages.

NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (2)

On the Field: Sections Field A1, Field A2, Field A3 and Field A4 are Field Seats, which offer some of the closest views of the performers. For many concerts, field sections are added or removed. These performer-specific adjustments may alter the field layout and the views from each field section.

To the Side of the Stage: For close views of the stage with a little bit of elevation, consider seats to the side of the stage in Section 107, Section 108 and Section 125. The view is not head-on like on the field, but many of the seats are closer to the stage, provide better elevation and are actual stadium seats.

NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (3)

Head-on to the Stage: Seats directly across from the stage, like those in Section 135, Section 136, Section 137 and Section 138 provide the most comfortable looks of the performance.

Even upper level sections offer unobstructed sitelines. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to see as much detail from these seats as you would if you sat closer to the stage.

Consider the Following When Buying Concert Tickets

Seats behind the stage are occassionally sold: Unless your main objective is to just get in the building, you'll want to completely avoid anything behind the stage - like those in/near or above sections Section 111, Section 112, Section 113 and Section 114. It's unlikely the performer will turn around to salute you - and you're more likely to be completely blocked out from seeing the show.

If you're on the shorter side (or bringing kids), consider field seats only in the first few rows: The most common complaint amongst field ticketholders is that they can't see the stage because of taller people in front of them. As an alternative, consider side sections near the stage that will still have you close and high enough to see.

Lower level side sections are not created equal: While the side sections closest to the stage are top-notch, side sections farther from the stage may leave you with a cramp in your neck. Sections 103 and 130 are not well-angled towards the stage - leaving you to turn your head for an ideal view. Instead, consider head-on sections in the lower level or even close side seats in the upper level like 610 and 633.

Other Popular Seating Areas

  • 500 Level Baseline (Basketball) Seating

Like the 600 level sections directly above, these are the cheap seats for a basketball game at NRG Stadium. When adding up all the seating on the floor, in the 100 level and in the 300 level, all of these seats are more than 100 rows from the court. Great views and sitelines with exceptional detail are sacrificed in favor of cheap tickets.

For the 2016 Final Four, tickets in these seats are about 30% more expensive than the aforementioned 600 level seats. However, these seats are nowhere near 30% better. Consider skipping these sections in favor of a cheaper ticket in the 600 level if the price is right and you can be in one of the lower rows in those sections.

  • 600 Level Baseline (Basketball) Seating

The cheapest tickets for the 2016 Final Four are found in the 600 level sections behind each basket on either side of the court. When looking at tickets in these sections, do not expect breath-taking views or any hidden gems. These seats are for the die-hard fans who just want to say they were there when so-and-so won the championship. As a result, the atmosphere in these seats tends to be a little looser and a little more rowdy.

Though budgets might be tough when looking at tickets in this seating zone, pay a few extra dollars to sit in the lowest row possible (near row A). Especially during the Saturday Final Four session that turns into a long day, this will keep you close to the concourse for quick trips to restrooms and refreshments.

  • 600 Level Corner (Basketball) Seating

The furthest of any option from the court and located beyond the baselines, these seats are best suited for the fans just looking to get in the door at a cheap price.

One of the most important considerations on the 600 level is row placement. These corner sections have up to 18 lettered rows of seating, running from Row A at the front, and ending in Row T. If you're attending the Saturday Final Four session and may be getting up and down a lot from your seats, pay extra to sit at the front of your respective section. You'll have a better chance of getting that beer up the stairs without spilling, and your knees will thank you the following morning.

As with corner seating on the lower levels, the sitelines from these corner sections are suited more for football than basketball. For example, when looking at seats in the SW corner, you'll want to stick to sections closer to the sideline (like 606) or those in the deep corner (like 601). These sections offer a more comfortable viewing angle towards the court.

  • 600 Level Sideline (Basketball) Seating

The best place to find a cheap ticket along the sidelines, the 600 level sideline sections will be far from the action but keep you between the baselines. These sections share an entry tunnel with the 500 level sections below, but are much larger than the with 18 lettered rows of seating. In turn, the best seats are found in Rows A through E where you'll be near the front of the section and have fewer stairs to walk.

If you're interested in keeping an eye on the players, opt for seating on the west sideline (Sections 607-610), as the east 600 level sideline sections will not have the same head-on view to the team benches.

  • Field Level Baseline (Basketball) Seating

Seating behind the basket at any basketball game can be disappointing. In a stadium designed for professional football, disappointing can be taken to a whole new level if you make a poor seat choice.

Each of these baseline sections is separated from the court by student sections 1-4. So even in the first row in this seating zone, you're already pretty far removed from the action. And if you end up in one of the last rows, you'll be about 90 rows from the court (counting the student seating rows).

Like the rest of the lower level, all numbered rows are temporary riser stadium brought in for the NCAA Tournament. These rows rise only modestly, so they're best suited for adults who won't have issues seeing over fans seated in front of them. Additionally, fans seated in these rows have the longest walks up to the main concourse where restrooms and concessions are found. If you're attending both games during Final Four Saturday, you may want seats with a little more accessibility. Among these sections, double-letter rows (AA-JJ) are closest to the main concourse, but they're also farthest from the court.

If you don't mind the stairs or don't mind being far removed from the court, there's still one more obstacle: the basket itself. In sections 116, 117, 136 and 137, the basket will interfere with your view of both ends of the court. If you're considering this seating zone, do yourself a favor and aim for a section closer to the corner where the basket is less of an obstruction.

  • Field Level Corner (Basketball) Seating

Corner seating on the field level will receive a similar transformation as the sideline field level seats, with riser seating put in place closer to the court, followed behind by traditional stadium seats.

All numbered rows in these sections are riser-style seats. These seats are not part of the permanent seating bowl at NRG Stadium. Instead, they are temporary sections of seats brought in just for the Final Four. The two biggest differences between these seats and the permanent seats is that the risers (ironically) do not rise as much from row-to-row. So you may be stuck behind a taller fan who blocks your view. Secondly, these risers seats aren't bolted down to the stadium foundation, so they may feel a little flimsy. Never-the-less, these seats still have a chairback and are the closer to the floor than the permanent seating.

When considering these corner sections, keep in mind that the stadium was designed to see a football game spread across 100 yards and not a basketball game spanning 94 feet. As such, the angle of some of these corner sections is not ideal for basketball. Sections 102, 103, 110, 111, 122, 123, 131 and 132 have the worst sitelines among these corner sections. Try shooting for a section closer to the sideline (like 104) or go to a deep corner section (like 112 or 113) where you'll have a more comfortable view of the court.

  • Field Level Sideline (Basketball) Seating

The field level sideline sections undergo the biggest transformation for a basketball game at NRG Stadium. Riser seating is put in place to accommodate more seating down towards the court, but has less elevation and spacing between seating rows than the traditional row structure at NRG Stadium.

These sections contain up to 80 rows of seating, starting with the riser seating in front (Rows 1-44), followed by single lettered rows (A-Z), and ending in double lettered rows (AA-JJ). The lettered rows are comprised of the traditional seating structure, creating more elevation to see over the fans in front.

These sideline sections will be among the most sought after thanks to excellent views along the sideline and close proximity to the floor. Fans can sit on the east sidelines to be closest to the player benches (Sections 125 and 128), while sitting on the west sideline provides a head-on view to the players and coaches.

  • Floor Baseline (Basketball) Seating

For the 2016 Final Four, sections 1-4 are being listed at student sections. Expect a rowdy atmosphere as each team's band and a number of students are expected to occupy these floor sections behind each basket.

  • 600 Level Endzone (Football) Seating

Behind the endzone and on the second furthest tier from the playing field, the 600 Level Endzone seats are often referred to as the Gridiron Endzone. Comprised of sections 616-627 at the north endzone, and Sections 642-652 and 601 in the south endzone, these seats will have far views but also have some of the smallest seating areas with just 14 rows in each section.

  • 600 Level Sideline (Football) Seating

Located on the second furthest tier from the field of play and running along the sidelines is the 600 Level sideline location. Seating in this area between the goal lines and 30 yard lines is known as the Gridiron Sideline (Sections 628-632 and 637-641 on the east side of the stadium, Sections 602-606 and 611-615 on the west side of the stadium).

Sections between the 30 yard lines on this level are known as the Gridiron Midfield, and include Sections 633-636 on the east side and Sections 607-610 on the west side). Sections in this location have up to 20 rows of seating.

  • Field Level Corner (Football) Seating

Field level corner seating is located on the closest tier to the field of play and in between the sidelines and endzones. Comprised of 3 sections in each of the 4 corners of the stadium, fans will experience unique diagonal views of the action and have some of the best views for touchdowns at the near endzone.

Most sections in this location contain 36 rows of seating, beginning with single lettered rows closest to the field (Row A being at the front), followed by doubled lettered rows behind (Row JJ located at the very top). Player entry tunnels are located in the northeast and northwest corners, making Sections 112-114 and 119-121 a fun place to be during the pregame entrances.

  • Field Level Endzone (Football) Seating

Located just behind the endzones and on the closest level to the field of play, these sections offer unmatched proximity to scoring plays in the nearby endzone.

Sections 117 and 118 in the North Endzone are also reffered to as the Bull Pen during Texans games and are known for having the most enthusiastic and supportive Texans fans, who have implemented numerous game time traditions including songs and chants. Bull Pen ticket holders are encouraged to stand for the entire game and show their enthusiasm loud and proud, so fans are advised to seek different sections when bringing children or family.

Most sections in this location contain 36 lettered rows of seating, staring with single letters at the front (Row A) and ending with double letters at the back (Row JJ).

    Venue & Seating Questions

    • Is there an elevator to the 700 level seats in NRG Stadium?

The NRG Stadium elevators do run to the 700 level of the stadium, and are actually the only way to access this level (no stair or escalator access). It is important to note that they do not allow alcoholic beverage on the elevators.

    • What is the highest level that the VIP elevators to to?

The VIP elevators run all the way to the 800 level for Upper Halo Suite ticket holders. The VIP elevators stop at all levels but require VIP ticket holder status to ride (granted to Suite and Club seat patrons).

    • Do Verizon Club seats include parking?

Unless specifically noted by the seller that a parking pass is included, Verizon Club Level seats unfortunately do not include parking.

    • Do the rows at NRG Stadium go up from the field?

The rows at NRG Stadium ascend up from the field. For example, the row closest to the field in Section 101 is Row A. Similarly, double-letter rows (like AA) begin after single-letter rows (like Z) and ascend up from the field.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (104)

NRG Stadium rows run A-Z from the field, then AA-ZZ

    • Where is the east sideline at NRG Stadium?

The East sideline runs between Sections 122 to 131 on the 100 level, with Sections 125 through 128 being closest to the player bench and midfield on the east side of the field.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (105)

    • Are there any obstructed view seats or sections to be avoided for a Texans game?

NRG Stadium does not have any seating areas which have limited view for Texans games, however we would recommend trying to avoid seats near the aisles in Rows E and higher in the 600 level sections if possible. These seats are just above the entry tunnels, where the view can be impacted by heavy foot traffic from fans walking between the concourse and their seats in the higher rows.

    • Can you see the videoboards from the lower level?

The video boards at NRG Stadium span the entire length of the endzone, making them
some of the largest in the NFL. However, their placement at the absolute
      top
of the stadium renders them perhaps the worst video boards in the
      league.

For fans paying big bucks to sit along the sidelines, seeing
the video screens requires a complete head-turn. While this is not
uncommon, fans sitting in the lower level than have to peer up far more than 100 feet to get
a clear view of replays and stats. Even if you are seated in one of the
highest rows of the stadium, chances are you will be looking up a fair
      amount all afternoon.

    • How does the 500 level compare to the 600 level at a Texans game?

On NRG Stadium seating charts, the 600 level appears to be directly above the 500
level. While this is true, there are significant differences between
sections numbered in the 500s and 600s.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (106)

Distance From the Field and Concourse

Naturally, the 600 level sections are farther away from the field because they are higher up. But it's worth noting that because these sections are not a simple extension of the 500 level, they are pushed farther back away from the stage. In other words, there is a significant difference between the last row in the 500s (usually Row M) and the first row in the 600s (usually A).

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (107)

Another item worth considering is the number of additional stairs it takes to reach the 600 level. While the 500 level is located just off the concourse, you must climb
at least 15 stairs to reach the first row of the 600s. While this may not turn off
fans seated in one of lower rows (A, B, etc.), it's worthy of
consideration for ticketholders who may have to climb another 15-30
stairs to reach a higher row. For fans who head to the concession stands and restrooms frequently, a ticket in the 500s will severely cut down on your time away from the game.

      Ticket Prices

Tickets in 600 level sections are typically priced 15-30% cheaper than similarly-numbered sections in the 500 level. Given their superior views and convenience, the jump in ticket price is justified. Rows A-F in sideline sections of the 600 level usually offer good value. But if you can't find tickets there, we recommend paying a few extra bucks to claim a spot on the 500 level.

    • Where are the club seats for the Houston Rodeo at NRG Stadium?

Club seating is located on the sides of the 300 level at NRG Stadium for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo show. All Club level sections (301-318 and 329-346) offer access to the Star Bar, Horseshoe Bar, Spur Bar, and Football Bar. Upscale food and beverage is available in all Club Level Sections.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (108)
    • What are the best lower level seats at NRG Stadium?

Most lower level sections at NRG Stadium are accurately priced in that you get what you pay for. Unlike a lot of older stadiums where seats inside the 20 have a terrible angle towards most of the field - even the lower rows of these sections will have semi-comfortable views to a majority of the action. As a result, choosing seats in these locations is generally a matter of budget and balancing your preference for convenience, experience or outstanding view.

      Best Seats for Convenience

From a convenience standpoint, the last row in every section 101-140 is located at the level of the concourse. In most rows, this row is labeled JJ. Exceptions include accessible seating sections where the last row of common seating is FF and a wheelchair accessible landing replaces rows GG-JJ. To feel as if you're not "walking a mile" up and down the stairs, first consider all double-letter rows (AA-JJ).

      Enjoying a Memorable Experience

If you're most interested in an unbelievable experience, you may prefer the lowest row possible. Just keep in mind that every seat in rows A-J of sections 102-111 and 122-131 will deal with some level of obstruction by the players on the sideline.

The Texans sit on the west sideline, making these an obvious first choice among Houston fans. For a less expensive gameday experience, consider sections 112-113 near the Texans tunnel (or 132-133 if you're a visiting fan). From there you'll have unprecedented views of the players as they run on and off the field before the game, during introductions, at halftime and at the end of the game.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (109)

If budget is not a concern, the Field Seats offer fans an opportunity to sit directly at field level. This experience comes with additional perks, including standing on the field before the game and exclusive amenities. However, with the players and sideline staff so close, it will be impossible to see much of the game.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (110)

Another popular spot among experience-seekers are the first 10 rows behind the goalposts. While the posts occasionally get in the way, these are the absolute closest seats to the field and offer a video-game-like view. Just keep in mind that fans in these sections stand for a majority of Texans games.

      Getting the Best View

Finally, for the purist football fan who simply wants to watch the game and have the best overall view, there are two considerations. First, the obvious choice is sitting at midfield. When seeking out the best views, look no further than rows S-Z and AA-EE. These seats are 20-30 rows from the field, aren't under the overhang and are an ideal alternative to the often-more-expensive lower rows. For an even cheaper option, do consider double-letter rows in all lower corner sections. Comfortable elevated sitelines and some of the lowest price tags in the lower level make these some of the most under-rated seats in the stadium.

      NRG Stadium Seating - RateYourSeats.com (111)

Altogether, the best combination of convenience, view and affordability at NRG Stadium is in sections 104-109 and 124-129. Specifically, double-letter rows (AA-JJ) in these sections are our top pick for the best all-around seats in the lower level.

    • How many rows in each section at NRG Stadium?

Each section has a varying amount of rows and seats. Find a section to see row and/or seat numbers.

    • Is seat number 1 on the left or right side of sections?

As you look towards the field from your seats, lower number seats are on your right.
